WILIE BAIN WON GLASGOW NORTH EAST

Labour has won the Glasgow North East by election sparked by Michael Martin’s resignation as Common Speaker in the wake of the MP expenses scandal.
Willie Bain won for the party for the party, while the SNP came second after failing to break through in what has been safe Labour territory for the last 74 years,
The Tories came third, leaving the British National Party in fourth place. Left wing Solidarity came fifth.
Voter turnout, at 33.2%.was a record low for a Scottish by election.
